Churinga were the Representation or manifestation of a mythical being and a ritual object, usually made of wood and occasionally stone. These formalized symbols are a sort of mnemonic device, which elders use to tell the story of the ancestors’ tracks through the landscape and also represent the tracks of totemic beings.
